Fibril® prevents plastic shrinkage cracking

Low relative humidity, high ambient temperature and, more especially, wind frequently cause extensively cracking in large plain concrete slab.

These cracks, called plastic shrinkage cracks, occur because the top of the slab shrinks faster than the bottom. Since the bottom of the slab is restrained, tension is created at the top of the slab, resulting in cracks.

An addition of 900gr of fibers per m³ of concrete was found necessary to prevent cracking at the micro stage.

Millions of fibers form a “bridge” wherever a crack threatens to develop.

Thanks to its very fine 3-dimensional distribution, FIBRIL® provides better results than traditional web reinforcement.

With no placing costs, it is also cheaper.
